Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) includes methods used to test welds and evaluate products and structures without affecting their usability. After non-destructive testing, the test object is not changed in shape, size, mechanical-physical-chemical properties and can still be used according to the original design purposes. In the field of destructive testing, after testing, the sample is destroyed and can no longer be used according to the original design purposes.
Non-destructive testing includes many different methods. Here are 05 basic methods:
- Ultrasonic weld, ultrasonic object (Ultrasonic test - UT)
- Radiographic test or also known as film, X-ray (Radiographic test - RT)
- Penetrant test (PT)
- Magnetic particle test (MT)
- Eddy Current Testing (ET)
